Twitey’s Nature Notes

Nature Notes from Twitey’s

What we are doing with the site

Allowing trees to re-establish in the long unmown grass, there are many small oaks and hawthorn already growing and blackthorn trees are all over the site.

We want these trees to grow for all sorts of reasons and not least to provide some shade for our campers.

The long grass is a great haven for many animals, we have many hedgehogs on site and hoglets have also been spotted, grass snakes, buzzards and lots of various birds are feeding on the seeds from the many wildflowers and grasses.

We also have deer, foxes and badgers roaming around along with some rabbits.

Please see our photo gallery.

We also hope to set up some web-cams to ‘trap’ some of our guest animals.

With the unmown grass we have noticed a sort of naturalization taking place with new wild-flowers appearing in the sward.

This is wonderful and very joyous to witness and allows for greater and greater diversity of insects and birds etc.
