PITCH SIZE GUIDE
We get asked a lot about tents fitting onto pitches, it is not easy to say, if you can’t tell us the size in metres. To help you decide which pitch type you need or how many pitches, we have drawn up some diagrams.
1 square = 1.0m x 1.0m.
An oversized pitch is approximately 15.0m in diameter, approximately 177m2.
A standard pitch is approximately 10.0m in diameter, approximately 78.5m2.
The pitches vary in shape some are oval, some are circular. Every pitch has a sunken fire pit approximately 1.0m across and between 1.0 to 1.5m from the edge of the pitch.
We ask that you use our guide to ensure your tent(s) can fit comfortably onto the pitches and don’t encroach into the long grass, this includes your guy ropes. If in doubt, please book additional pitches for larger groups.
You can’t take a vehicle of any kind to a pitch, this includes trailers and motorbikes. We have a supply of wheel barrows for you to borrow to move stuff to your pitch. This makes the meadows a lot quieter, no car doors slamming and no headlights or indicators flashing late at night and it’s safer for the little ones.
Our Standard Pitches
The number of tents is only limited to the size of the pitch. You do not need to pay extra for more than one tent. Standard pitches are about 10m (78.5m2) in diameter typically suitable for up to 2 small 2-4 berth tents less than 4.5m in length. Please make sure your tents fit comfortably on the pitch, including your guy ropes, remember there is a sunken firepit also on the pitch. Maximum 8 people (see pitch-size guide on website).
Our Oversized Pitches
The number of tents is only limited to the size of the pitch. You do not need to pay extra for more than one tent. Oversized pitches are about 15m (177m2) in diameter typically suitable for 1 family sized tent over 4.5 metres in size. Larger multiple bed-roomed tents may require more than one pitch. If you are unsure please email in the first instance, your booking details and tent information (size in metres). Please make sure your tents fit comfortably on the pitch, including your guy ropes, remember there is a sunken firepit also on the pitch. Maximum 12 people (see pitch-size guide on website).
Orchard Pitch
Our orchard is an even quieter section on our upper meadow. There are only 3 pitches in our fenced off orchard. With your own drinking water stand pipe only yards away. This area is suitable for adults only (no groups) who would like to add that little bit of privacy to their camping getaway. Orchard pitches suitable for small tents only. Maximum 4 people.
